About

It was following the loss of my beautiful daughter, Aishwarya, to a congenital heart defect and with the inspiration of a friend that Aishwarya Trust was founded in March 2008 in Chennai. My father K Nagarajan is the founder and backbone of the Trust. Our personal life-changing experience with Aishwarya has made this cause very real, meaningful and worthwhile for us.

Every year hundreds of thousands of children are born with severe congenital heart defects in India. What’s worse is that most parents cannot afford the required life saving surgery. Aishwarya Trust is a charitable organisation that seeks to reduce the number of preventable deaths associated with CHD. By funding a part of the surgery, seeking donations and co-ordinating with Fortis Malar, we are able to facilitate such required surgery.

We have supported more than 1000 successful surgeries so far. Seeing these children lead happy and healthy lives has spurred us on to redouble our efforts. We hope to increase the magnitude of our assistance in the future. With your support and well wishes this dream can soon become a reality.

We thank you for your support.

Chitra Viswanathan.

OUR MISSION

To raise awareness for CHD and enable corrective surgery for at least 300 affected children at leading private hospitals in a year.

Aishwarya Trust is one of the largest NGOs dedicated to the cause of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) and its treatment, with an extremely high ratio of successful surgeries. The vision is straightforward: to bring down the infant mortality rate through screening and early detection. Over the last 10 years, it has stood true to their cause, by successfully helping over 1300 children with heart diseases through surgeries, as well as screening around 1,00,000 children from economically-vulnerable families. It has helped children from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Puducherry, and other parts of India, along with children from 5 African nations (Rwanda, Burundi, Sudan, Nigeria, and Somalia) & Iraq.

Aishwarya Trust’s focus is on early intervention through early detection. To further this, they have setup screenings for new-born infants, in partnership with like-minded Government organizations, across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Puducherry.

Following are the participating centers:

  • Rajiv Gandhi Women & Children Govt. Hospital, Puducherry
  • Saidapet Corporation Hospital, Chennai
  • Stanley Medical College Hospital, Chennai
  • Rotary Club of Bangalore
  • Vellore Medical College Hospital
  • Tiruvannamalai Medical College Hospital

Aishwarya Trust has also joined hands with the Central Government’s initiative: RBSK-NRHM, in screening for Congenital Heart Disease among school-going children. Through this partnership, it has helped organize 12 camps, that have screened over 1000 children in the past 6 months. At state level, it has provided 300 children with corrective treatment, in association with Tamil Nadu Government’s Health Insurance Scheme.

Aishwarya Trust is helping under-privileged children with end-stage heart failure with heart transplantations. So far, it has given a new lease of life to 10 children after successful heart transplant surgeries.

“OUR AIM IS TO LEAD A NATIONAL, INTERNATIONAL AWARENESS AND VISIBILITY CAMPAIGN FOR CONGENITAL HEART DEFECT.”

One would think we are all God's children and are born equal. Alas, that is not true! Some children are born with a congenital heart defect, for no fault of theirs, commonly referred to as "Blue Babies", which denies them the normal right to live, which we all take for granted. I am committed to Aishwarya Trust because it provides intervention and surgeries to such children from economically challenged families giving them a wonderful new lease of life and brings smiles to them, their parents and the team of highly dedicated doctors at Fortis Malar. Aishwarya Trust is addressing the # 1 cause of infant mortality, other than infection, and has helped more than a thousand lives bloom already and counting . Nothing can be more fulfilling to me
